The Device Tab manages the addition, deletion, and configuration of devices connected to HubKit. It also allows you to set the physical location of devices.
Gravio provides two dimensions to organize and make sensor placement and assignment efficient:
Areas define physical locations such as “3rd Floor West Side,” “Seminar Room,” or “Entrance Area.”
An area can have multiple layers, used to group sensor information by function, such as “Temperature Layer” or “Camera Device Layer.” Sensor devices within the same layer must be of the same type.
Adding an area is simple. Just click the “+” mark in the top right corner to add a new area. It’s recommended to add a photo to make it easier to identify the layer in the future.
Give layers clear names and select the sensor type to include in that layer.
Different options are available depending on the device selection. Gravio supports the following types:
Gravio is designed to easily extend to new sensor families. You can check the range of hardware sensors that Gravio supports by default on the Gravio website.
Currently, the following well-known sensor standards are supported:
To use Zigbee devices, you need to use a Gravio Hub or a Gravio Zigbee USB receiver dongle to run Edge Server on your PC/Mac.
Bluetooth devices must be supported by Gravio. Please inquire in the Slack channel to check if your device is supported.
EnOcean sensors do not require additional drivers. The EnOcean driver is built into the Gravio HubKit application. Just connect the Gravio HubKit and EnOcean dongle, and you’re ready to connect to sensors.
Once you’re ready to connect to sensors, you need to bind the receiver to the layer where you want to receive data.
All data types belong to specific data layers. These layers must match the type of sensor you’re adding. For example, if you’re adding a button, you need to add a button layer. All sensors in this layer must be the same type of button because layers define the characteristics of input data.
At this point, data is being ingested and processed by Gravio. Open the “Data” tab and press the “Live” button to see input data in real-time.
Input data from sensors creates new rows in this view. Now your sensors are connected to Gravio and ready to process input data with triggers and actions.
